AWARD-WINNING COLLECTION
heading to AWP BALTIMORE 2026!
We are excited to share the news that
Somos Xicanas is heading to AWP 2026
in Baltimore, MD!
Somos Xicanas: échale Tu Canto will be hosted on
Thursday, March 5th at 9:00 AM - 10:15 AM
Location: Room 323, Level 300,
Baltimore Convention Center
The X in Xicana is the vital confluence of past with future marked by our present voices. Eighty contemporary Xicana writers make up Somos Xicanas, an anthology that connects those represented with future generations in a call to liberate all. “Échale tu canto al viento, pa’ que llega más lejos,” writes editor Luz Schweig in the introduction. Join this panel with the anthology’s editor, publisher, and contributors to discuss from where those songs derive and just how far they can go. Moderated by Xochitl-Julisa Bermejo and featuring Editor Luz Schweig, Angela Trudell Vasquez, Dahlia Aguilar, and Publisher Brenda Vaca.
